The Waste to Win Challenge by Policy Forum Guyana, in collaboration with Cevons Waste Management, aimed to address pollution in Guyana by engaging youth in collecting aluminium cans and plastic bottles. The competition, held from August 5th to October 12th, 2024, involved 28 teams from various schools and independent groups. Participants collected a total of 44,377 plastic bottles and 5,628 aluminium cans. The initiative not only promoted recycling and environmental awareness but also fostered community engagement and sustainable practices among young people. The competition concluded with an award ceremony on October 19th, 2024, recognizing the efforts of all participants and highlighting the importance of youth-led environmental actions.
